Here you will find photo's of my cottage, it was build in 1920 from trees on the island. Yes the cottage is on an island. My grandfather, an American, somehow found this desolate island in Quebec and bought a few acres on it. At that time, there were no roads from Ottawa leading to it, so they took a train to get here. Remember in 1920 most folks didn't have cars. They had a 1.5 hp motor, a big heavy beast, that they used to tow the trees 4 miles down the lake to be cut into boards, which they then towed back to build the cottage.
The cottage is rustic, meaning, NO electricity, plumbing, heat, showers, tub, tv, microwave, nor phone.
We are not totally barbaric as we use a wood stove and propane stove for cooking, a fireplace for heat, and a propane refrigerator to keep things cool, and we have a propane bbq for most cooking.
